Leiden

Leiden (in older sources sometimes spelled Leyden) is a small city in the Dutch province of South Holland, located near The Hague, close to the heart of the Randstad. It is the home of Leiden University, founded in 1575 and one of the most prestigious universities in Europe.

The city has a population of 118,000.
