Intern

An intern is someone who works as a short-term employee, typically to get on-the-job training is a specific field. As such, many interns are college students or recent graduates. Interns may or may not earn a wage.

The unmarked term "intern" usually connotes a newly graduated medical doctor who has not yet become a "resident".
