A North Carolina English Language Amendment did not make the 2012 ballot in North Carolina as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment.

The measure would make English the official language in the state of North Carolina.^[1]

The proposed measure would ask voters:^[2]

Constitutional amendment providing that English is the official language of the State of North Carolina.

The North Carolina Constitution, Section 4 of Article XIII, required that a legislatively referred amendment go on the ballot after it is approved by a 60% vote of each house of the North Carolina State Legislature.
