Hippolytus Of St. Lawrence

Saint Hippolytus of St. Lawrence's unreliable Acta (not written by Lawrence) is mentioned in the Roman Martyrology on August 13, which names him the officer in charge of Lawrence's imprisonment who was baptized by Lawrence, was brought before the Emperor when he attended the saint's funeral, and was then scourged and torn apart by horses at the order of the Emperor. At the same time Hippolytus' nurse, Concordia, and nineteen other Christians of his household were beaten to death with leaden whips. He is often confused with Hippolytus of Rome on August 3, and Hippolytus of Ponto, bishop and martyr on August 22.
