Diplomatic Mission

A diplomatic mission is a group of people appointed by one nation to represent the nation in a second nation or in an international organization. Under international law, the members of a diplomatic mission have special rights, such as diplomatic immunity, which is freedom from arrest, and freedom from paying taxes in the second country. When two countries establish formal diplomatic relations, each country will send one or more diplomatic missions to the other. The main, permanent diplomatic mission in each country is called an embassy and its leader is called an ambassador.
