Hamilton (City)

Hamilton is an industrial and port city in the Canadian province of Ontario. The city was founded by George Hamilton when he purchased the Durand farm shortly after the War of 1812 at the west end of Lake Ontario, a part of the Greater Toronto Area (or "GTA") also known as the Golden Horseshoe. In the 2006 Census, the city's population was 504,559 and the CMA has a population of 692,911, making it the ninth largest city in Canada and third largest in Ontario.[1]
