Chiswick

Chiswick(OE farm where cheese is made) - pronounced chizik, is a district in the London Borough of Hounslow.^[1] Situated on the north bank of the Thames, originally a village and civil parish in Middlesex, the district became a borough in 1932. The borough was abolished in 1965. Despite this, the architecturally significant Chiswick Town Hall is still used for municipal purposes as well as for social events. Other notable monuments and buildings in Chiswick include Christ Church, the neo-Palladian villa Chiswick House and, since the mid-1990s, the Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

The first V-2 of WW2 landed in Chiswick.
