British Citizenship

From Conservapedia

British citizenship did not exist until January 1, 1983, when citizenship in Great Britain was first created by the British Nationality Act of 1981.[1]

Until then Brits were "British subjects" ... of the King or Queen. This explains the enormous devotion to British royalty by their former "subjects", which continues to this day.
