1.) One very important value in studying History is learning from the past. Events from the past are examples of the outcome of many ideas. If the idea had a negative outcome, then we should not repeat it, but if it had a good turnout, then we should follow through with the idea and perhaps it would have a rippling effect to spur more ideas in our current day.

2.) I believe the United States entered World War II at the right time. If we entered earlier, then more lives would have been lost with little outcome. If we entered later, more attacks on the nation would have occurred and countless civilian’s lives would have been lost.

3.) I believe that the slow restrictions of immigration in the 1850s by signing bills like the Chinese Restriction Act were good ways to stop overpopulation. At the time, overpopulation was a problem as it was burdening on New York City. As a result of the overcrowding, people were living in extremely small apartments and could only share one bathroom with the rest of the building! These living conditions were a sign that immigration needed to be restricted.

Good example. But there is lots of space in the nation, so I'm not sure the problem with immigration is based on too little space.

4.) I like the development of music in the Roaring Twenties. With the creation of the jazz genre, music has been growing and growing into many other genres like alternative, blues, and punk.

5.) I believe that the New Deal, a plan by President Roosevelt to solve the Great Depression, began with good intentions but had an opposite outcome, similar to that of the Prohibition. I would have done things differently by asking Americans to help their neighbors and ask local charities to help out and sponsor events. America as whole would learn to embrace the hardship and get through the rough times together.

6.) I believe that dropping the atomic bombs on Japan was the only way to end the war quickly enough. This is due to the fact that the Japanese would have never quit fighting due to their beliefs.
