Morgenstern, Karl:

German landscape-painter; born at Frankfort-on-the-Main Oct. 25, 1812; died there Jan. 10, 1893. He received his education in art in the Munich Academy of Arts, and in 1834 visited the Bavarian highlands and Italy.

Of his paintings the following may be mentioned: "Ansicht von Neapel"; "Bai von Bajae"; "Meerbusen von Villafranca bei Nizza" (1843; now in Städel's Museum).
