The University of Michigan is a state run, public university serving Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint. The University was founded in 1817, and today the enrollment is over 41,000 students. Most of the University's departments rank within the top 10 in the nation; particularly notable are the Ford School of Public policy, ranked 2nd in the nation, and the University's American Political Science program, ranked 1st in the nation.[3] The Ann Arbor campus is known for being especially liberal and is very accepting of drug use and homosexuals. It is a common place for liberal demonstrations, which often draw a large supporting crowd. Visitors preaching conservatism usually get heckled and harassed by the liberal students. In response to the 2016 United States presidential election, University of Michigan Law School decided to help students coping with Trump Derangement Syndrome by giving them Play-Doh and coloring books, information that was later scrubbed from their website.[4]
Varsity sports teams at the U of M are Wolverines.
