Boa Constrictor

Boa is the common name of a family of snakes. They vary in size from small, burrowing species to enormous reptiles of great strength. Most large boas are found in Central and South America as well as the West Indies. All members of the family are constrictors—that is, they wrap their long bodies around their prey, crushing it to death. Although boas usually feed on birds and small mammals, some of the larger boas can kill and swallow animals the size of small deer. After eating, the snake may remain motionless for some time.

Their bite is not poisonous. They can grow up to 25 feet long in South America. Unlike pythons, practically all boas bear their young instead of laying eggs.^[1]
