El Paso

El Paso is a city in southwestern Texas, adjacent Mexico and New Mexico. It has a population of 609,000. The Mexican city across the Rio Grande at El Paso is Ciudad Juarez.

The community is heavily Democrat in voter orientation though two Republicans, Jack Vowell and Pat Haggerty, represented El Paso County in the Texas House of Representatives from 1981 to 1995 and 1995 to 2009, respectively.
