Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals are a Major League Baseball team based in Kansas City, Missouri. They were founded in 1969, after the 1967 move of the Kansas City Athletics to Oakland, California so enraged Missouri's then-U.S. Senator Stuart Symington that he threatened to revoke MLB's antitrust exemption. Since their founding, they have been part of the American League, and are currently part of the Central Division.

The Royals have been based in Kauffman Stadium since 1973, although Kauffman Stadium was named "Royals Stadium" until 1993. Previously, they were based in Municipal Stadium. Kauffman Stadium is located in the Truman Sports Complex, standing next to Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Royals have won four American League pennants (1980, 1985, 2014, and 2015), winning the World Series twice (in 1985 where they defeated their in-state rival St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 in what was known as the "Show-Me Series" and notable for a controversial blown call against the Cardinals in Game 6) and in 2015 (defeating the New York Mets 4-1).
