Mutiny (from an old verb "mutine," O. Fr. a sedition; cf. mod. Fr. the original is the Late Lat. mota, commotion, from movere, to move), a resistance by force to recognized authority, an insurrection, especially applied to a sedition in any military or naval forces of the state.
