Barbara Herzog is an at-large representative on the Oshkosh Area School District school board in Wisconsin. Herzog was initially appointed to the position in 2013 by the board. Herzog won a new term in the at-large general election on April 4, 2017.
Herzog holds a B.S. and M.S. in education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She also earned a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Herzog previously worked as a principal and administrator in the district. She currently works as a program coordinator in the Center for Additional Teaching Licenses at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Herzog has also served as the board president for Special Opportunities for Artist Residencies (SOAR) since 2008.[1][2]
Two seats on the Oshkosh Area School District school board were up for at-large general election on April 4, 2017. Board incumbent Barbara Herzog filed for re-election. Newcomer Bob Poeschl filed for the other open spot on the board. Both Herzog and Poeschl won seats on the board, as no other candidates filed.[3][4]

The candidates in this race filed exempt from campaign finance reporting as they did not spend or receive more than $2,000 in their campaigns.[5]
All school board candidates in Wisconsin were required to file a campaign registration statement with the Wisconsin Ethics Commission after qualifying as candidates. This statement declares their candidacy to the county clerk's office and allows them to claim exemption from reporting campaign contributions and expenditures. Candidates were only required to report campaign contributions and expenditures if they did one or both of the following:[6]

Allison Garner, Barbara Herzog, and John Lemberger sought re-election without opposition to three available seats in the general election on April 1, 2014. The third seat up for election was for the remainder of an unexpired term. The third place winner, therefore, took on a one-year term, while the first and second place winners took regular three-year terms.

As of February 7, 2014, Herzog did not report any campaign contributions or expenditures to the district office. State law allowed candidates to claim exempt status from campaign finance reporting if contributions and expenditures did not exceed $1,000 during a calendar year.[9]
Herzog did not receive any official endorsements for her campaign.
