Monosodium glutamate (also known as MSG) is a flavor enhancer that is commonly used in many processed foods. MSG is also used extensively in Asian (e.g. Chinese) foods. Though it is generally recognized as safe[1] by the Food and Drug Administration (the agency which regulates the usage of such additives in the United States), MSG has been implicated as a cause of autism and ADHD in children, as well as many other ailments.[2] Some claim it is possibly addictive.
