1. By learning history, mistakes are avoided in the future. If you learn what went wrong and why, then you have a better chance of not repeating that mistake. George Santayana once said, "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Another wise quote was made by David C. McCullough when he said, "History is a guide to navigation in perilous times. History is who we are and why we are the way we are." History truly does mold us into who we are and will be. If you repeat what was done right in history, then it will most likely be right again.

2. Yes, the United States was correct to enter WWII. Obviously, Germany was abusing other countries, Britain in particular, and if we had not entered the war when we did, then they would eventually have attacked us. Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor was reason alone. But if we had entered the war any sooner, then we may not have been ready economically. If we had entered any later, then more innocent lives would have been taken.

3. The high point of immigration was good for America. This time, from 1905-1914, allowed anyone to lawfully immigrate from any country to America. A lot of times, the immigrants were more willing to work harder and longer, simply because most immigrants had known what it was like to be poor and without money or food and without freedom - and they did not want to go back. Also, many of these immigrants joined America's army and fought for America's causes.

4. The development of entertainment is fascinating. Jazz is an extremely popular, creative type of music which was all the rage in the 1920s. And then movies hit America. They quickly became a popular way to be entertained. The first 'talking' movie was title "The Jazz Singer." The combination of the two most popular forms of entertainment brought about a whole new look for entertainment.

5. I'm not really sure what I would have done about the Great Depression. Some of the New Deal was good, and some was bad. The Trade Agreements Act was good as was the Emergency Banking act or the National Housing Act.

OK. What can you think of anything different you would have done, or give an example of what you think was bad?

6. Yes, it was correct for America to drop bombs on Japan. It was important that we get Japan to surrender, before they killed more American Troops. Although some said that Japan would eventually back down, there was no sign of that anywhere. The only way was to bomb them. This did effectively work and they surrendered after "Fat Man" was dropped.

7. This cartoon shows the ghost of Teddy Roosevelt haunting the White House. TR is calling his 'big stick' a mere 'willow' compared to the sticks the 'House' and the 'Senate' are bringing the president. It represents the Democratic power in the House and Senate during the terms of FDR. This cartoon was probably written by a disapproving Republican around 1934.

Saying that Teddy Roosevelt is "haunting the White House" is too literal. But the rest of your answer is superb, and I'll use it for the model.
