From Here To Eternity

From Here to Eternity (1953) won 8 Oscars, including Best Picture, with an ensemble cast of many stars including Frank Sinatra, Burt Lancaster, Deborah Kerr, and Montgomery Clift. The plot that is more complex than in most movies, and was based on a novel by James Jones and a screenplay by Daniel Taradash.

The title "From Here to Eternity" was taken by James Jones from an 1892 poem by Rudyard Kipling called "Gentlemen Rankers."
