Massacre

Massacres are mass murders, usually of defenseless civilians by occupation troops (see war crimes). History books often gloss over these, especially in textbooks meant for schoolchildren.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines massacre as:

the act or an instance of killing a number of usually helpless or unresisting human beings under circumstances of atrocity or cruelty [1]
