Michael Lawrence is a journalist and business leader. In 2012 he was appointed Chief Executive of Asia House, the London-based think tank and advisory firm focusing on trade, investment and policy in Asia.[1] He previously served as Global Editor, Thomson Reuters[2]
Lawrence began his journalism career as a cadet journalist in Sydney, before working for titles in Australia and the UK.[3] He was Programme Director at LBC Radio between 1989 and 1994 and joined Reuters in 1994 to launch Reuters Financial Television, rising to Global Editor.[4][5]
As Reuters Managing Editor for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Lawrence called for a US investigation into the death of Reuters journalist Waleed Khaled, who was killed in Iraq by US forces on August 28, 2005.[6][7]
Lawrence is Chief Executive of Asia House[8], where he oversees the institution's work driving political, economic and commercial engagement between Asia and Europe. As Chief Executive of Asia House, Lawrence has chaired high-level trade dialogues in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, [9] Dubai and Riyadh.
Lawrence was born in Sydney, Australia. He lives in London, United Kingdom.
