Comforter

Comforter is the title of the Holy Spirit in its role in strengthening the faithful against temptation and providing spiritual or emotional aid in times of tribulation. This term reflects the difficulty in translating the Greek term for the Holy Spirit (paraclete) directly into English. The Greek term connotes advocacy whereas English terms of "spirit" or "ghost" do not.
