Dapiera (De Piera), Astruc

From Jewish Encyclopedia (1906)

Dapiera (De Piera), Astruc:

Martyr; lived in Barcelona. He was probably a relative of Isaac de Piera, who also lived in Barcelona, and who, in the year 1391, was baptized under the name of Guillermo Vidal Puiol ("Rev. Et. Juives," iv. 59). Dapiera, accused of witchcraft, was put in prison in 1370 by the grand inquisitor of Aragon, Fr. Nicolas Eymeric. He was sentenced to express his repentance publicly in the cathedral, and to suffer imprisonment for life.
