Landfill

Landfills are organized waste-disposal facilities in which layers of garbage are dumped, often with layers of soil in between, to encourage decomposition of organic waste.
Landfills, among other disposal facilities, are often operated in a socialist fashion. In many regions, property owners must pay for garbage collection and landfilling as part of their property tax even if they don't put anything out to the curb. In Charlotte County, Florida, for example, taxpayers as a whole pay $72.00 per ton of garbage collected.[1]
Environmentalists and other critics often complain about landfills, among other reasons because they do not facilitate the decomposition of waste. Critics advocate composting and recycling as alternatives, as far as organic and recyclable waste is concerned. Some critics advocate waste incineration, as well excoriating waste in general.
