Mauricio Macri (born February 8, 1959) is an Argentinian politician who served for President from December 10, 2015 to December 10, 2019. He is also a civil engineer, executive, businessman, and Argentine sports leader.
Macri had been a national deputy for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires between 2005 and 2007 and head of government of that same district for two periods (2007-2011, 2011-2015).
Macri worked in companies in the country such as Citibank, Sevel and the Macri Group and was president of Club Atlético Boca Juniors between 1995 and 2008. His political party is the PRO (Republican Proposal) and was created in 2005. The political ideology of the party is social democracy. As president, Macri was seen as a neoliberal reformer.[1]
Macri was defeated in the 2019 presidential election by Alberto Fernández and his running mate, former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.[2]
