From Conservapedia Energy drinks are a class of non-alcoholic or "soft" beverages which are promoted as giving the consumer more energy or "go" than typical liquid refreshments. The energy may not refer to the actual energy or calorific value contained in the drink but to natural or added substances that stimulate the brain or physiology.
The predominant additive in energy drinks is caffeine which is commonly found in coffee, tea and colas but in much smaller quantities. Other stimulants may include ginseng, guarana, ginko biloba, vitamins as well as inositol, maltodextrin, taurine, carnitine, creatine, sugar and carbonated water. Many energy drinks extend the value they offer to users by partnering with specific video games to provide in game benefits and in game developer commentary.
