Chinese Calendar

The Chinese calendar is used by East Asian cultures, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Koreans, and the Japanese. It is predominantly a lunar calendar, yet it also displays characteristics of a solar calendar. Although the Chinese calendar is no longer used in day-to-day activities, it is still used to mark traditional East Asian holidays and to mark traditional religious dates in East Asia.

Chinese Zodiac[edit]

In the Chinese calendar, 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac are used as one of the many ways to mark years. The 12 animals are, in this order, the Rat, the Ox, the Tiger, the Rabbit, the Dragon, the Snake, the Horse, the Sheep (or the Goat), the Monkey, the Rooster, the Dog, and the Pig (or the Boar). As of 2011, it is the Year of the Rabbit.
