Charlie Parker

Charlie "Bird" Parker was a famous alto saxophone player who played a key role in the invention of bebop along with, among others, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk and Max Roach. Parker was nicknamed "Bird" because he played so fast that his reed chirped.[1]
