Pitcher: The fielder designated to pitch the ball to the batter.

A pitcher is a player on a baseball team who is responsible for pitching to the batter on the other team. The pitcher communicates with the catcher through the use of hand signals, and throws various pitches including the fastball, curveball, changeup, and slider. Pitchers are ranked primarily on ERA and winning percentage.
