St. Louis County Court Facilities Bond Measure (April 2012)

A St. Louis County Court Facilities Bond Measure was on the April 3, 2012 ballot in St. Louis County.

This measure was approved

• YES 52,888 (59.52%)a
• NO 35,967 (40.48%)^[1]

This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $100 million in order to help pay for a new family court facility, buy the land for the new building and repair the current facility as needed.^[2] To pay for the bond, a previous tax increase used to pay another bond will be continued instead of expiring. The tax will be set at a rate of $.02 per $100 of assessed value. Opponents noted that the bond is too much money and that there were better ways to acquire the needed additional funds, such as increasing lawsuit filing fees. Proponents noted that the buildings need repairs and this bond would help with those issues.^[3]
