First Coalition

The First Coalition was formed by many countries including Great Britain, Spain, The Netherlands, Prussia, and Austria to prevent the violence in Revolutionary France from spreading outside it. The origin of the Coalition was France's declaration of war on Austria on 20 April 1792; the other nations joined in to assist Austria and prevent the spread of Revolutionary ideas.
