The Raleigh Tavern was an important meeting place for members of Virginia's House of Burgesses when Royal Governors would dissolve their meetings. The tavern was rebuilt in 1930 and is a part of the Historic Colonial Williamburg district.
Prominent patriot leaders such as Richard Henry Lee and Patrick Henry would meet there to continue to discuss the mistreatment on part of the Crown and related legislative issues.
