American Council Of Learned Societies

The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) was founded in 1919 to bring together the major scholarly disciplines such as history. At present 70 organizations belong to it. It sponsors an e-book project which puts hundreds of major scholarly books online; access is through academic libraries that have subscriptions.
