A domestic partnership is a legally recognized union between two people, similar to same sex marriage. Many have criticized it as a form of deceit, being a way to give the homosexual agenda a wide acceptance into American life through the use of removing the facts such as domestic partnerships are usually between two people of the same gender and while it is possible to have an opposite gender domestic partnership, it is pointless, being that it is essentially the same thing. Many also argue that couples in a domestic partnership miss many of the benefits of legal marriage, and are being forced into a 'separate but equal' status. As of 2007, the states of California, Maine, New Jersey, Washington, and Oregon offer domestic partnership status, as does Washington, D.C.. Several other countries, such as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and regions offer partnerships as well.[1][2]
