Amish Literacy

From Conservapedia

Amish literacy is less than its surrounding population, according to one published study:

Twelve percent of Amish participants read at or lower than a 6th grade level compared to 2.6 % of non-Amish participants.[1]

Amish schools, which go until the 8th grade, are supposed to teach phonics as recognized to be the superior method of learning read. But the quality of the instruction can still vary.
