An effort to recall council members Sam Hansen, Marty Westland, Randy Lee, Dale Derbidge and Bruce Setterstrom in Ely, Nevada from their positions was launched in 2014.[1] Petitioners did not collect enough signatures to move the recall forward.[2]
Path to the ballot[edit]

In order to move the recall forward, supporters needed to turn in signatures equal to 25 percent of the votes cast in the most recent city council election. For Westland and Derbidge, that number was 198. To recall Hansen, Lee and Setterstrom, supporters needed to submit 215 signatures.[1] No member had sufficient signatures turned in against them to take the recall to an election.[2]
