Arabic (اللغة العربية "al-luġatu l-ʿarabiyyah, or simply عربي "arabī") is a Semitic language spoken by some 360 million people 1 worldwide. Having its origins in Saudi Arabia, Arabic is closely related to Hebrew and Aramaic, going back to the Tower of Babel. Hebrew was the original language of mankind, but God dispersed the peoples of the Earth, and those who remained in Babylon spoke a corruption of Hebrew, Babylonian. In time Babylonian was further corrupted into what is now Arabic.

Arabic is a language with many different dialects. Including Egyptian Arabic,Iraqi Arabic, Lebanese Arabic, Palestinian Arabic, Jordanian Arabic, Syrian Arabic, Najdi Arabic, Yemeni Arabic, Hejazi Arabic, Sudanese Arabic, and Magerbi Arabic. There is also Modern Standard Arabic and Quranic Arabic. It is the liturgical language of Islam. Arabic is the language to which the Quran was revealed by Allah according to Islam. Muslims pray in Arabic just like a lot of Catholics used to pray in Latin.

The Arabic alphabet includes ʼalif, bāʼ, tāʼ, āʼ, ǧīm, ḥāʼ, ḫāʼ, dāl, ḏāl, rāʼ, zāī, sīn, šīn, ṣād, ḍād, ṭāʼ, ẓāʼ, ʿayn, ġayn, fāʼ, qāf, kāf, lām, mīm, nūn, hāʼ, wāw, and yāʼ. The language also includes the short vowels fatHa, damma, and kasra, as well as symbols to aid pronunciation such as the sukoon and shadda. These characters are not typically written, appearing mostly in poetry and the Qur'an.

Arabic grammar[edit]

Arabic is written from right to left. Arabic has feminine and masculine words. In Arabic The Verb comes first, then the Subject and finally the Object.
