Life and works[edit]

Roberts was born October 10, 1950, in Maryland, the youngest of five children.[2] She grew up Irish, married and had two sons, Jason and Dan, and was a proficient housewife until one day when her family was snowed in.[3] That day, she began a disciplined writing career, and though she faced many rejections (including from Canadian publisher Harlequin), she got her first novel, Irish Thoroughbred, published in 1981.[4] Since then, she has produced many bestselling books and married a new husband.[5]

In 1995, she wrote Naked in Death under the pseudonym J.D. Robb, the first of her In Death series.[6]
