Monocle

From Conservapedia

A monocle is a single spectacle, placed only in one eye. It was originally used for such activities as gem inspection or examining the fine print in contracts or religious texts. As a result, it became distinctly associated with a learned and, primarily, rich class of people. This association has persisted and in modern times monocles are increasingly rare and generally have the stigma of extreme stuffiness, extravagance, or exclusivity.
