Turret (from 0. Fr. tourette, diminutive of tour, tower, mod. Fr. tourelle), a small tower, especially at the angles of larger buildings, sometimes overhanging and built on corbels, when it is often called a "bartizan" (q.v.), and sometimes rising from the ground.
