The definition of a font is a "typeface" (style of written characters) on screen. Their purpose is to give the impression that typed characters were actually written by hand by a person with a particular style of handwriting. Other purposes include functionality for decorations or eye catching signs. Different fonts can allow writers to express more creativity in comparison to the bland and uninteresting default fonts seen on most word processors, i.e.; Times New Roman, Calibri.
