Abortion in Illinois is unlimited until birth, due to pro-aborts in Chicago who dominate the politics of the entire state. Downstate Illinois is increasingly conservative, and on the northern edge of the Bible Belt.
The southern half of Illinois, with the exception of Springfield where the state government and its employees are located, is carried heavily by Trump and pro-Trump candidates.
The governor's race of 2022 is expected to be primarily about abortion, with downstate conservative Republican Sen. Darren Bailey opposing liberal Democrat J.B. Pritzker from Chicago.[1]
