The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a training program of the United States Armed Forces present on college campuses to recruit and educate commissioned officers. It is designed as a college elective, and studies focus on leadership development, problem solving, strategic planning, and professional ethics. Generally ROTC programs are run through a Department of Military or Naval Science.
Nearly 300 colleges and universities currently host the 200-year-old ROTC program.[1] However, dozens of "prestigious" schools have eliminated ROTC due to their liberal worldview, claiming to protest America's involvement in war and later because of Don't ask, don't tell.
The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a variant of the above program that is used in High Schools and to some extent Middle Schools.
