From Jewish Encyclopedia (1906) Amora the period of whose activity is not known. Only two haggadic sentences by him have been preserved. One, on Judges iv. 5, declares that Deborah sat under a palm-tree instead of in her house, in order to escape any possible suspicion (Meg. 14a). The other explains why David, when fleeing from Absalom, composed a "mizmor" or psalm (Ps. iii.) and not a "ḳinah" or lament (Ber. 7b).
