The Georgia Institute of Technology (or Georgia Tech) is a Georgia public university founded in 1885.[4] It ranked #35 in US News's 2008 "National Universities: Top Schools" list.[5]

Athletics[edit]

Georgia Tech and 8 men's and 7 women's sports teams.[1]

The football program has won 23 bowl games (while losing 13), including 3 national championships, and also participated in the largest blowout in football at any level, a 222–0 win over Cumberland University in 1916 (during that period in collegiate sports, teams were known for using semi-professional players claiming to be "college students") led by coach John Heisman (for whom the Heisman Trophy is named).
