Cricket World Cup

The Cricket World Cup is a tournament played by the cricketing nations of the world. It's a One-Day International tournament which is held every four years. The first was staged in England in 1975, and the most recent one was in 2007. The Cricket World Cup is organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which regulates all international matches.

Nine World Cups have been staged with five countries different countries as winners, Australia are the most successful having won four World Cups including the last three - in 1999, 2003 and 2007.

In 2007 sixteen teams participated, they were split into four groups of four. After a round-robin stage, the top two in each group qualified for a "Super 8" stage. The "Super 8" stage was also a round-robin format with the top four qualifying for the Semi-Finals.
