Chess And The Bible

Chess -- the game of chivalry modeled after feudal Christianity -- illustrates several miracles and parables in the Bible. Here is a growing list of examples:

• multiple parables, including the Prodigal Son and the Parable of the Vineyard Workers, illustrate that victory (with faith) can be snatched at the last minute from the jaws of defeat.
• an often-overlooked move for easy checkmate exemplifies multiple miracles, such as the Miracle Catch of Fish simply by positing the net on the other side of the boat. (John 21:1-14).^[1]
• pawn promotion exemplifies the Parable of the Mustard Seed, Matthew (13:31-32), Mark (4:30-32), and Luke (13:18-19).
• the Parable of the Vineyard Workers is similar to the timelessness of chess, and how some apparently far behind can emerge victorious. (Matthew 20:1-12).^[2]
