Futhark

Futhark or fuþark also known as Runic alphabet is the ancient writing system (alphabet) used for Germanic languages until the year 1700. There is an Elder futhark and a Younger futhark. The characters are called Runes.[1]

The name futhark is derived from the first 6 characters (just like alphabet: alpha and beta) wich are F (fehu), U (uruz), þ (þurisaz), A (ansuz) R (raido) and K (kenaz).
