Brigham Young University-Hawaii (or BYUH) is a university owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in Laie, Hawaii. Founded in 1955[3] by President David O. McKay, then President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BYU-Hawaii was established with the purpose of educating students from Pacific Rim countries. They do this by giving out scholarships to international students who could not otherwise afford an education in their home countries. In doing this, BYU-Hawaii works closely with the Polynesian Cultural Center, which gives students employment as part of their scholarship.[4]
