Levant

From Conservapedia

The Levant is an archaic name for the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean, particularly Israel and the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Syria; the term derives from the French for 'rising', indicating that the Levant, the place where the sun rises, is to the east. Iraq is often included in the modern definition,as it includes similarities to Syria and Jordan.
